Fungitopia was founded to explore and promote the transformative power of fungi by raising awareness and educating anyone curious about mycology.

I am Ida, a high schooler in Boston, with an enthusiasm for all things mycological. My adventure with fungi began when I was six, exploring Mediterranean landscapes during woodland hikes led by expert mycologists. Since then, my curiosity has only grown with every mushroom I’ve encountered. While volunteering at a university microbial ecology lab and later training at Dana Farber, and MGH, I learned more about the power of fungi, whether large fruiting structures or microscopic forms.
I’m a member of the North American Mycological Association (NAMA) and the Boston Mycological Club, where I continue to learn more about these amazing organisms. This blog site grew out of a desire to share the knowledge I’ve learned, create comprehensive resource lists and education materials, and show the scientific advancements made possible by fungi.
